Three bombs hit Bangkok, several wounded.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - At least three small bombs exploded in Bangkok on Sunday, wounding at least three people outside a shopping mall, police said.
They said the bomb at the mall near the Victory Monument in the center of the Thai capital went off about the same time as one in an old part of the city 3 km (2 miles) away and another near the port.

31 декабря в столице Таиланда Бангкоке почти одновременно произошли сразу четыре взрыва. Сообщается, что пострадали более 20 человек, один погиб. Взрывы прозвучали в супермаркете, на автобусной остановке, на оживленной улице, на паркинге крупного торгового центра. Полиция начала расследование произошедшего, передает ИТАР-ТАСС.

В первом случае неизвестный взорвал гранату в одном из супермаркетов торговой сети Big C, сообщили в полиции со ссылкой на очевидцев. Один человек убит. Мощное взрывное устройство сработало близ автобусной остановки в районе Victory Monument, ранив около 20 человек.

Третья бомба была заложена в урну в районе Klong Toey. От взрыва, детонировали газовые баллоны у находившихся по близости торговцев горячей пищей. Двое прохожих получили ранения.

Четвертый взрыв прогремел на автомобильной парковке крупного торгового центра Season Skua Shopping Mall. Никто не пострадал. Полиция начала расследование произошедшего.

Как сообщил официальный представитель тайской полиции генерал Аджиравит Супханапхесат, саперы работают еще в шести районах Бангкока, где были обнаружены подозрительные предметы, которые могут оказаться взрывными устройствами. BANGKOK: -- Seven explosives went off almost simultaneously in Bangkok, injuring at least 20 people as the revellers were about to start celebrating the New Year's eve.

Two people were killed and 20 injured at the Victory Monument when a powerful bomb went off near a bus station at about 6.30 pm.

One person was dead near the Big C supermarket, Sapan Kwai branch, where witness saw a man dropped a grenade from a pedestrian bridge just over the police box.

At the Klong Toei area near the Na Ranong intersection, around the same time, a bomb hidden in a trash can near a Chinese spirit shrine exploded and injured two bypassers. The explosion caused a secondary explosion to a number of cookinggas cylinders that were situated nearby.

At the Seacon Square Shopping Mall, a loud explosion went off at the parking space, creating a panic but no injury.

Authorities ordered all shoppers to evacuate the mall, one of Bangkok largest, and all shops to close down for business.

Deputy Governor of Bangkok, Wallop Suwandee, announced that all the events designated for the New Year's even countdown celebration have been cancelled.

Government's spokesman Yongyuth Malyalarp urged the public to remain calm, adding that police officers have been instructed to stay on high alert, including areas where high concentration of people are expected to take part in the New Year's count down.

"Police reinforcement have been sent to various areas in the city. We urged the public to remain calm, continue with the celebration but at the same time keep a look out for any irregularities," Yongyuth said.

Another police box was hit near the Khae Rai intersection in Nonthaburi province just north of Bangkok with a bomb but not injury reported said Police spokesman Pol General Ajiravid Subarnbhesaj said.

Another bomb went off in the compound of the Tesco Lotus Supermarket at the Prachachuen branch.

Explosives went off almost simultaneously in several places accross Bangkok at around 18:00 local time, injuring at least 20 people as the Thai capital had just started celebrating New Year's eve.

At 19.30 on Sunday evening local time in Bangkok, bombs exploded in several places acccross the Thai capital killing several people and injuring many more.

There is no doubt of the bombs and the coordinated attack, with the first exploding 17:47, but the number of bombs and the size of the damage may be wrongly reported by the sources used for the follwing report:

Bombs have reported exploded in the following locations:

Victory Monument near a bus station outside the Dok Yai bookstore
Saphan Kwai near the Big C supermarket
Seacon Square, in the car park
Klong Toey, at the fresh market
Khai Rai crossing
Sukhumvit Soi 62, the Ekamai interserction

Взрыв произошел около отеля САБАН КВАЙ(со слов по телефону). Невдалеке с виктори монумент. Такси не останавливается в этом направлении. Жена с дочкой с трудом поймала такси, в том направлении,где сняли отель.
Проезжала семья мимо последствий взрывов - там дым.

CNS may seize Thaksin's assets following bomb attacks: source

A security source said the Council for National Security may order the seizure of assets of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra to cut money supply for financing disturbance in the country.

The source said the CNS believed Thaksin was behind the series of seven bomb attacks in Bangkok Sunday evening.

The source said the CNS noted many bombs were launched at police booths but none of police officers were injured.

Three more bombs exploded in the heart of Bangkok once the new year started, severely injuring many foreign tourists.

The two bombs exploded nearly at the same time seconds after the new year started and another bomb exploded about half an hour after midnight.

The first bomb exploded at a public telephone booth at the pedestrian flyover linking Central World and Kesorn Plaza. Several foreigners were injured and rushed to hospitals.

The second bomb exploded at the Best Sea Foods restaurant on the Saen Saeb Canal near the Pratunam Pier.

Two foreigners and a Thai were injured. One of the foreigner had one leg amputated by the blast.

The third bomb exploded at the Buddy Bar on Khao Sarn Road.

Midnight bomb attacks
Close to midnight two more bombs exploded near the main planned count down event outside Central World. Several foreigners were seriously injured. They were taken to Police Hospital and Rachawithi Hospital.
One bomb went off near the bridge over Klong Saen Saep crossing over to Pradoo Nam and the other was near the walk over to the Gaysorn Plaza opposite the square.

The Police Hospital informed at 01.10 that the nationalities of the injured were:
Serbia - 2 persons
UK - 1 person
US - 1 person
Hungary - 1 person
Thai - 1 person

Big C in Rajadamri
- A suspected bomb in a plastic bag outside a Telewiz shop on 1st floor turned out to contain just garbage.

Khao San
- A suspected bomb in Buddy Bar turned out to be false alarm.

Lumpini Night Bazaar
- A suspected bomb Bar turned out to be false alarm.

Who did it?

The police say they suspect people discontent with the military coup in September to be behind the attacks. The police does not believe it was people in the south of Thailand who have been exploding bombs and setting schools on fire who were behind the attack.

Первые семь взрывов прогремели в Бангкоке почти одновременно за 5,5 часов до наступления Нового года. Для терактов были выбраны наиболее многолюдные места.

Вторая серия взрывов произошла через несколько минут после полуночи на одной из центральных площадей столицы. Одна из бомб была заложена в телефонной будке, еще две на мосту через канал. Пока никто не взял на себя ответственность за произошедшее. В Таиланде отменены все развлекательные мероприятия.

The two bombs exploded nearly at the same time seconds after the new year started.


The first bomb exploded at the Best Sea Foods restaurant on the Saen Saeb Canal near the Pratunam Pier just seconds after the New Year countdown ended.


Three foreigners and two Thais were injured. One of the foreigners had one leg amputated by the blast. The foreign tourists were having dinner at the restaurant.


Police said the bomb was hidden in a bumper tire at the pier.


The second bomb exploded at a public telephone booth at the pedestrian flyover linking Central World and Kesorn Plaza. Several foreigners were injured and rushed to hospitals.


It was fortunately that the New Year countdown event at Central World was earlier cancelled by 8 pm and thousands of revellers had already dispersed but many were still wandering around.

Police had to ask tourists and revellers to try to leave the area as soon as possible for fear that there could be another bomb.

Police said the bomb near Central World might be planted shortly before it exploded as police earlier checked the area but did not find it.

The latest explosions brought to eight the number of bomb which exploded in Bangkok. Six bombs exploded nearly at the same time at 6:30 pm on New Year Eve.

The latest bombs prompted the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to cancel the alms giving ceremony at Sanam Luang. Despite the earlier six bomb attacks, the BMA initially intended to go on with alms giving ceremony but changed its mind after the latest attacks.

There were rumours of bomb explosions in many areas throughout the night and objects suspected to be bombs were sighted in several areas.

A suspected bomb was located at the Buddy Bar on Khao Sarn Road about half an hour after midnight and tourists were evacuated from the area.

By 1 am, police also disposed another bomb at the Lumpini Night Bazaar before it explodes.
