to Hotel Director
Dear Mr. ...
We want to bring to your attention an unpleasant problem we were faced with in our cabin, in order to improve our beloved company.
Usually we do not use the minibar but on this cruise we invited friends to visit our cabin and there arose a need to use it. Everyone was shocked when we found that all the bottles with transparent liquors (vodka, gin, rum) had opened caps and were filled with water! Bottles with amber liquors (cognac, whiskey) were the normal.
After discussing the situation, we came to the conclusion that the suspicion will fall on us, so we’ll end up paying for all the previous tenants’ minibar spirits. We don’t want to have a tarnished reputation.
We realized, too, that it was possible if we hadn’t opened the minibar, as we usually don’t, the substitution would have been found by the new guests in the next cruise. It would’ve have been even more unpleasant if this had been the case as the blame would have been laid on us. So, it’s good we found this ourselves, I suppose.
Therefore, we decided to appeal to you. In order to avoid similar unpleasant situations, it might be quite a good idea if minibar staff checked the contents and integrity of bottles in minibars prior to the next cruise.
Thanks for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Elzhbeta and Alexander Chegarov , 4-star Mariners
