Lecture and Open Day
Lecture - Thursday 7th September
A lecture by Mr Philippe Malgouyres, Chief Curator of the Department of Art Objects in charge of bronzes, ivories, hard stones, arms and armor (15-18th centuries) at the Musée du Louvre, Paris.
Mr Malgouyres is a former boarder of the French Academy in Rome (Villa Medici) and specialises in Italian and Spanish art, mainly sculpture, decorative art, religious anthropology and devotional practices. He authored various specialized books and curated a number of exhibitions at the Musée du Louvre and various other museums in France.
Venue: Grand Salon, Auberge de Provance – National Museum of Archaeology, Valletta
Date & time: Thursday 7th September at 18.30hrs
OPEN DAY - Friday 8th September
A final opportunity to view the de Valette’s dagger, prior to its return to the Louvre Museum.
On the day, admission will be FREE of charge.
Opening hours: 09.00 – 18.00hrs (last admission at 17.30hrs).
The poniard is on loan from the Louvre Museum, Paris.
