DOHA HOTELS in the country, irrespective of their category, can now get tourist visas for people of all nationalities, Chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) Ahmad Abdullah al Nuaimi has said.
This is aside from the ’48 Hours in Qatar’ tourism promotion scheme whereby passengers transiting through the Doha International Airport are issued entry visas so they can stay for 48 hours for sight-seeing, Nuaimi said in an interview.

Qatar’s Tourism Authority (QTA) on Tuesday stated that a new law is currently under discussion to regulate the tourism industry in the state, to offer transiting passengers 72-hour visas.
The existing tourism promotion in Qatar launched in 2010 entitled ‘Qatar in 48 Hours’, permits passengers in transit to be issued an entry visa for 48 hours.
QTA said that currently only five per cent of European and Asian passengers transiting through Doha are requesting a 48-hour entry visa, but if the response to the proposed 72-hour transit visa was encouraging, ten or even twelve per cent increase could be expected.
