There will soon be an even cheaper way of travelling on AirAsia within Asean with the AirAsia Asean Pass whereby one can hop on a flight from KL and travel Bangkok and then on Jakarta or other Asean destinations – all for just RM499. This multiple travel pass will be available from Jan 15 next year, with options for either 10 or 20 flights, said AirAsia group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes.
The AirAsia Asean Pass is essentially a prepaid ticket that lets travelers book flights at a fixed rate across selected routes throughout the Southeast Asian region. The first option will be a one-month pass for 10 flights anywhere within Asean at a flat rate of RM499, excluding airport charges. The second option will be a 45-day pass for 20 flights, costing RM800-RM900. “The idea behind this pass is one of simplicity. Say you have a month off, you could go from Singapore to Bangkok to Chang Mai and so on and forth,” said Fernandes.
AirAsia Asean Pass holders will be able to purchase flights to over 137 routes throughout Asean with these credits, which provides them with great value as they are guaranteed to able to fly at very low rates within Asean. The list of routes featured in the Asean Pass will be from 1 credit up to a maximum of 8 credits one way. The pass will also come with numerous benefits, including BIG points which can be used to redeem free AirAsia flights.
The low cost carrier airline aims to capture the Asean market as well as the people outside of the region who will be able to see Asean as a destination in a whole. “With the dawning of the Asean Economic Community and progress on Asean Open Skies, we are pleased to promote Asean integration by helping bridge communities.
AirAsia is confident that the introduction of this pass will boost air travel within the Asean communities as well as attract foreign tourist to this region especially for 2015 and also to promote MyFest2015 as it is the Year of Festivals 2015 in Malaysia. The AirAsia Asean Pass will be available for booking on http://www.airasia.com next year and is valid for one year from date of purchase.
