Rhapsody of the Seas was on the first night of a nine night Mediterranean cruise when a rogue wave hit the ship and broke five cabin windows on Deck 3. Six staterooms were damaged and water flooded the hallway and cabins on the deck. Repairs were made to the ship while the vessel was docked in Ajaccio, Corsica, the first port stop of the cruise.
There were 89 passengers on the cruise affected by the flooding. Royal Caribbean was able to move 45 guests to different staterooms, but the other 44 passengers had to depart the ship and end their cruise early. The cruise line paid for all airfare and hotel costs for the passengers who had to leave the ship.
Royal Caribbean is taking care of the passengers who were affected by giving them a full refund and a future cruise certificate for 100% of the cruise fare that they paid for the current cruise. There are no reported injuries.
Rhapsody of the Seas remained in port for an extra six hours in Ajaccio so the windows that were
damaged could be replaced. All other port stops are expected to be made on schedule.

Jordan denies British cruise ship over norovirus fears
Aqaba authorities have prevented a cruise ship carrying nearly 2,000 British tourists from entering the southern port city, as some passengers are infected with the norovirus, an official said Tuesday. Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority Commissioner for Economic Development and Investment Affairs Sharhabeel Madi told The Jordan Times that authorities had been aware that the virus was detected among the tourists since Sunday, when the ship was on its way to the Kingdom, noting that the cruiser was not allowed to enter Jordan’s territorial waters. “After receiving information from the cruise tour operator and the maritime agent that the ship is carrying several infected tourists, the Jordan Maritime Authority consulted the Health Ministry and decided to ban the ship from entering Jordanian waters to protect citizens from the virus,” Madi said. According to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, norovirus, also known as winter vomiting disease, causes gastroenteritis and is highly infectious. The virus is easily transmitted through contact with infected individuals from one person to another.
Mother left sobbing on dock as cruise ship leaves 'with children on board'
A distraught passenger sunk to her knees in a Bahamian port as she watched a cruise ship pull away with her children on board. The woman was caught on camera by fellow passenger Scott Thomas helplessly throwing her arms into the air and shouting that her children were on board as she watched the liner depart. The 144,000 ton ship, The Norwegian Breakaway, left Nassau, in the Bahamas at 5.30pm on April 21, only a minute or so before the woman arrived at the port. The 4,090 passenger boat was on a 14-day Bahamas and Bermuda cruise, departing from its homeport in New York on April 17
