с 1 сентября ко всем мобил;ним номерам в таиланде добавят 08,таким образом все номера будут 10 значними.

Thailand will change from 9-digit to 10-digit mobile telephone system on September 1.

Setthaporn Khusripithak (เศรษฐพร คูศรีพิทักษ์), a member of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) said the change, approved by the telecom regulator yesterday, was in response to the rapid expansion of the use of mobile telephones.

With the 10-digit system, the country will have enough mobile telephone numbers for the next 30 years, Mr. Setthaporn said.

Beginning September 1, users of all mobile telephone systems will have to dial the prefix 08, he said. For examples, the number 01-123-4567 will be changed to 08-112-345-67 and the new number of 09-123-4567 will be 08-912-345-67.

Однако, для облегчения перехода пользователей (о как!) на новый стандарт, операторы (DTAC, например) предлагают много полезных примочек.

Угу я правильно понимаю, что соответственно если ранее номер был допустим 07..., и из за границы звонишь +667..., то теперь внутри будет 087.., а для внешнего пользования +6687 и далее вся байда. Так чтоли?

Thailand's mobile phones now 10-digit numbers - total confusion

BANGKOK (thaivisa.com): Last night Thailand's mobile operators changed all Thai mobile numbers from 9-digits to 10-digits numbers. The 9-digit based system will be intact until November 30, to make it easy for the customers.

But you don't need to do anything to continue to call out and receive calls, but you will need to edit your own phone book to include the extra "8" digit for Thai mobile phones.

A lot of confusion has occured because of conflicting information in the media. So here is the lowdown:

1. You do NOT need to visit any AIS, DTAC or True etc. service centre!

2. Your mobile number currently works with both the old number and the new number (until Nov 30, 2006):

Example:
If your old number was, for example: 01-5432109 your new number is now 018-5432109. Both will work until November 30, 2006 so no worries.

3. You propably have a lot of Thai mobile numbers stored in your mobile or SIM-card. You are advised to manually change all Thai mobile numbers to include the "8" as in the example above.

(You can of course visit your mobile shop to do this for you, but it's not mandatory.)

4. Number presentation (CLID): You might not yet see the new "8" when someone is calling you from another Thai mobile, but it may work within a few weeks.

5. Soon you will receive a SMS message from your mobile provider to change your SMS settings to include the extra "8" in your phone setting for "SMS Service Centre", but you can leave that for the next few weeks.

6. Please inform you international phone friends and collegues of the new situation. As the example above, you international phone number was +6615432109 - now it is +66815432109

The alteration of local mobile phones to the 10-digit system is to cope with the kingdom's expanding demand for mobile phone services in coming years, according to the National Telecommunication Commission

не совсем понятно с месторасположением восьмерки - в пункте два в примере восьмерка идет после префикса (018-хххх) а в пунтке 6 перед (+6681-хххх)?
