The "hop-in, hop-off" style of sightseeing, popular in so many cities worldwide can now be enjoyed in Tokyo. The Sky Hop Bus, an open-deck, double-decker tour bus operated by Hinomaru Jidosha Kogyo Co., Ltd. began service on June 30th. One or two day tickets are available, and one price allows passengers to freely hop on, or hop out at any stop along their selected route.
Three routes are available: Asakasa and Tokyo Sky Tree Course; Odaiba Course, and Roppongi and Tokyo Tower Course. The hub for all three routes is the Mitsubishi Building in Marunouchi in front of Tokyo Station. Passengers may change their bus routes here. They may also switch between the Odaiba Course bus and Roppongi Course bus at the Tokyo Tower Station. Buses generally run once every hour, more frequently for the Asakasa Course on weekends and holidays.
All passenger seats are located on the top deck, so passengers can enjoy panoramic views of Tokyo. On rainy or extremely hot days, buses equipped with a glass roof or roof that can be levered shut may be used.
The Sky Hop Bus has a no-reservation policy with free seating. English, Chinese or Korean language tapes with earphones are available, and Sky Hop Bus will also provide raincoats on rainy days.
1-day tickets (1,800 yen for adults, 900 yen for children) are good for 24 hours, and 2-day tickets (2,500 yen for adults, 1,200 yen for children) are good for 48 hours.
