Local Hotels concerned over the rise in crimes involving Russian Tourists.
An emergency meeting now conducted by the Thai Eastern Seaboard Hotels Association at the Dusit Resort in North Pattaya. In attendance were Police Colonel Sutin, the Superintendent of Pattaya Police station and other senior officers who were invited along to discuss the increasing numbers of crimes involving Russian Tourists here in the Pattaya area. Many crimes, some minor and some far more serious have hit the headlines in the past weeks and the Hotels are now concerned that Russian Tourists are being specifically targeted by criminals who see they as easy and wealthy targets. If this continues this will undoubtedly affect Russian Tourist numbers, which in turn will damage the already fragile Tourism Industry here in Pattaya. The Colonel mentioned that he will pull-in resources from every Police division to ensure that crimes involving all foreign tourists are reduced. For those who unfortunately find themselves as victims of crimes and require hospitalization, it was announced that a special fund will be set up to compensate them which will include covering the cost of Hospital Bills and separate compensation payments if applicable
