The recent booking you were able to make on Etihad Airways from Moscow via Abu Dhabi to Bangkok and Melbourne on 13 February 2016 was cancelled by Etihad Airways as soon as it was revealed to us that the booking was made taking advantage of a technical glitch in our reservation system. The itinerary you chose does not reflect a bona fide travel routing and appears to have been deliberately selected to manipulate the applicable fare for such routing. Your chosen route from Bangkok to Melbourne has been selected in such a manner that it requires you to backtrack to Abu Dhabi before proceeding to Melbourne.
As a result we have cancelled your entire booked itinerary with immediate effect. We will refund the full amount paid, and any conversion rate shortfalls or bank charges you may have incurred in finalising the ticket purchase. The cancellation of the contract of carriage and the refund of the full amount you have paid conforms to the provisions of Article 7 of our General Conditions of Carriage which is an integral part of the contract between you and Etihad Airways.
We regret any inconvenience this may have caused to you and we remain committed to offering the highest levels of service to you, and if we can be of assistance in rebooking your flight itinerary to Bangkok or to any other of network destinations, you can do so via our website at

Ну успех уже. Хотя бы дали ответ. Логично, что они в первую очередь сослались на свои правила. Сам жду такой же ответ, поэтому подготовил для себя письмо, которое хотел бы им вслед отправить. Выложу текст здесь ниже, вдруг вы захотите им дать ответ в этом ключе. Прошу прощения за кривоватый английский и возможные ошибки в тексте.
Thank you for your answer, but I would like to inform you that my final destination points are Bangkok and Melbourne. Since the distance between Moscow and Australia is really huge, I prefer to have some stop for relax and Bangkok is an ideal point for it. At the same time as you know when you chose transit flights you can get cheaper option than direct flight. That is why such route (via Abu Dabi) was chosen and booked.
Also please note that technical error in reservation system is not my responsibility and the passenger will not have to suffer from this.
In conclusion would like to say that since Etihad AirWays also operates within the territory of Russian Federation, they should meet Russian Legislation regarding Air Passenger Trasportation.
Kindly ask you to check point 2 of Article 102 of The Russian Air Codex, in which claiming that:
The Carrier really has the right to have their own rules for air transportation. But these rules must not conflict with the general rules of air carriage and impair the level of service for passengers, shippers, consignees. At the same time in the same General rules of air carriage is not allowed unilateral termination of the contract of carriage (as you did based on Article 7 of your General Conditions of Carriage, which you stated upper).
Thus, I really hope that such a great company with World reputation cannot ignore Legislation of the country in which operates and current issue will be investigated one more time from your side and appropriate answer will be received from you.
Unfortunately, in case of your ignore of Russian legislation requirements I have no chance as to escalate such case to appropriate Russian authorities.
Кстати вчера вечером отправил через интернет приемные (онлайн) запросы в РосАвиацию, Прокуратуру, Роспотребнадзор и МинТранс. должны выслать письменный ответ на почту в течение 30 дней. Уж не знаю, ответят ли и тем более что ответят, но нам в данном случае явно нужна их поддержка. Без их указаний Этихад тупо будет ссылаться на свои правило и забьет на нас на всех...
