TEAM LEADER, INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (SUVA)ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Team Leader ICT Suva reports to the Manager, Information and Communication Technology Section, who is based at SPC Headquarters, Noumea, New Caledonia. The appointee is responsible for the technical development, administration, and maintenance of the SPC Suva corporate networks, communication servers, and ancillary equipment. The post supervises the ICT section in Suva.
Specific duties include the following:
• Administer the Suva corporate network infrastructure and provide high-quality support services to SPC staff, registered network users, and authorised network guests
• Manage the Suva ICT Helpdesk and provide prompt and high-quality support to all SPC Staff.
• Manage the ICT Suva section’s resources, including staff, budget and equipment.
• Manage the Suva LAN/WAN and ensure network and data communication systems
• Administer the acquisition and support of corporate ICT equipment, supplier compliance with terms of contract and adherence to SPC standards
• Maintain the SPC Suva network, including routine backups and development of disaster recovery procedures
• Assist with technical reviews of corporate systems and applications
• Ensure that the ICT training needs of SPC staff are met
• Perform other related duties as required by supervisors
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Qualifications
Essential
Ø Tertiary qualification or equivalent in computer science or related discipline
Ø Demonstrated ability in user training and support
Ø Good customer service skills
Ø Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Desirable
Ø Demonstrated ability to manage ICT projects successfully
Experience
Essential
Ø Experience in managing an ICT service department
Ø More than 5 years experience in the use of MS Office products both as user and administrator
Ø More than 5 years experience in the use of corporate system backup and recovery solutions
Ø More than 5 years experience in LAN/WAN management including
Ø configuration, operation and management of routers (Cisco) and network switches
Ø Practical work experience with MS Windows network servers and Exchange mail servers.
Desirable
Ø Demonstrated capacity to work in a team of people from different cultural backgrounds
Ø Familiarity with ICT issues in small island countries, preferably in the Pacific region
Ø Administration and operation of a corporate helpdesk solution.
SALARY, TERMS AND CONDITIONS
SALARY AND ALLOWANCES
The starting salary will depend on experience and qualifications and will be in band 12 of SPC’s salary scale.
Professional salaries at SPC are set in SDR (Special Drawing Rights) and paid in the local currency (i.e. the Fijian Dollar, FJD, in Fiji Islands). The salary range for this grade is SDR 2,939–4,409 per month. At prevailing exchange rates these amounts convert into approximately FJD 8,521–12,783 per month (USD 4,500–6,800; € 3,500–5,200).
An offer of appointment for an initial contract will made in the lower half of this range.
SPC remuneration is not subject to income tax in Fiji Islands at the present time. However, for Fiji nationals, this exemption may be discontinued by the Government of Fiji Islands.
SPC subsidises housing. A housing allowance of 75 per cent of the total rental, up to a limit of FJD 2,625 per month, will be provided. The minimum housing allowance payable is FJD 1,170 per month.
In addition, an establishment grant will be payable to non-residents of Fiji Islands.
Where appropriate, an education allowance will be paid.
TENURE
The appointment will be for three years, with the possibility of renewal depending on performance and continued funding availability.
DUTY STATION
Suva, Fiji Islands.
LEAVE
Annual leave will accrue at the rate of 25 working days per annum. Sick leave is 30 working days per annum.
MEDICAL BENEFITS
SPC’s Staff Medical Insurance reimburses doctor fees, cost of prescribed medicines, surgical and hospital costs, etc. up to certain percentages and limits. Supplementary medical insurance is available to increase these percentage reimbursements and limits.
PROVIDENT FUND
The appointee will be eligible for membership in SPC’s Staff Provident Fund. Staff members contribute 8 per cent of their base salary, to which SPC adds a matching contribution.
FARES AND REMOVAL EXPENSES
For an appointee recruited outside of Fiji Islands, the cost of air fares by the most direct and/or economic route for the appointee and recognised dependants, and reasonable removal expenses by sea of personal and household effects, will be met by SPC on appointment and termination.
COMPUTING ENVIRONMENT
SPC has a standardised computing environment based on Microsoft Office running under Microsoft Windows.
SMOKE-FREE ENVIRONMENT
Smoking is not permitted in the work place.
