Dear Sirs,
I, Sashko, citizen of Ukraine, national passport XX123456, issued on 01.01.2001, valid until 01.01.2011, would hereby like to complain on the following:
On the 3rd of November 2009, being in possession of a paid and valid ticket for the flight TR903 departing on 10:15 am from Macau and heading to Singapore, I was not allowed to check in.
As per words of Mr. F*king Bastard, supervisor on duty of Menzies Company, providing check in and boarding procedures in Macau International Airport, I do need a visa for entering Singapore. I explained to Mr. Bastard that I was travelling to Singapore for transit to Amsterdam, Netherlands and Moscow, Russia (flights Kl838 departing from Singapore to Amsterdam on 22:50 Nov 03, 2009 and SU404 departing to Moscow on 9:45 Nov 04, 2009 in one flight ticket # 123456789) and have the right for a visa-free transit (so named VFTF) in Singapore and to leave the transit area for going to the city. I also showed to Mr. Bastard the print-outs from timatic (

http://ica.gov.sg/page.aspx?pageid=96&secid=94) which clearly confirm my words. Mr. Bastard, after consulting by phone Mr. Bloody Idiot, manager on duty of Tiger Airways in Singapore, confirmed to me again that I cannot board the aircraft, because (almost literally quoted) “VFTF is only possible in the main terminals of Changi International Airport, but not in the budget terminal which Tiger Airways flights arrive to”. My explanations that the transit rules are not governed by Tiger Airways or airport authorities, but by ICA Singapore only, were ignored. Mr. Bastard also could not show me any document confirming that there is no possibility for VFTF in the budget terminal. I was also not permitted to talk to Tiger Airways representative directly what I consider as a flagrant violation of my rights as a customer of Tiger Airways. As the last chance, I proposed to write an engagement to undertake and cover all the expenses occurring from my possible deportation from Singapore, but Mr. Idiot’s verdict was uncompromising: you can fly to Singapore in any way you may want, but not with Tiger Airways.
Being totally frustrated of crying non-professionalism and incompetence of the employee of Tiger Airways I had no other way out than to purchase a new ticket with your competitor AirAsia to Kuala Lumpur first (flight AK51 departing on 10:45 am) for MOP1,268.00, and then to Singapore (flight AK709 departing on 5:00 pm) for MYR142.00, and to fly for the whole day. Additionally, the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore was delayed for 2 hours, so I suffered much stress in that day because of that situation and because I was very close to miss my flight home as I arrived to Singapore just 2,5 hours before my next flight. Obviously I had no time to visit the city. Because of hard working I have my vacations just once a year and I wanted so much to fly with Tiger Airlines and to see Singapore and to buy presents for my relatives, but instead of this I spent my last day in vacations just for unneeded flights. And my frustration increased much more of being forced to buy additional tickets, as I am a budget traveler, and my moneys are very limited.
After I arrived to Singapore and got VFTF without any smallest problem, I double checked with ICA representative the VFTF possibility in the budget terminal. They confirmed that VFTF is possible and called the Tiger Airways people incompetent. I just wonder that employees of a well-known and (important!) Singapore based airline do not even know the legislation of their own country.
I think my rights were flagrantly violated by the wrong actions of Tiger Airways’ employees, as I fulfilled all the requirements of ICA Singapore, but Tiger Airways did not fulfill its obligation to carry me from Macau to Singapore according to my flight ticket, under the vain pretext. This resulted in material loss and moral damage for me. For that end I do kindly ask you to:
- indemnify my material loss of MOP1,268.00 and MYR142.00 occurred from purchasing additional tickets to Singapore via Kuala Lumpur (copies attached)
- indemnify my moral damage in the amount of SGD 10,000.00
