Brazil (BR)
Passport required.
Passport Exemptions:
- Holders of a Carteira de Identidade (National Identity
Card), issued to nationals of Brazil.
- Holders of a National Identity Card issued to nationals of
Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru or
Uruguay.
- Nationals of Argentina holding:
- National Identity Card ( Documento Nacional de Identidad );
- "Libreta de Enrolamiento" (for men) or "Libreta Civica"
(for women).
- Holders of German identity document Kinderausweis, issued
to minors up to/incl. 15 years of age. If being under 10
years of age, the document does not contain a photo of the
child.
- Holders of an Identity Card ( Carteira/Cedula de Identidade
de Estrangeiro") issued to alien residents of Brazil.
- Holders of an Identity Card issued to alien residents of
Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay,
Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela, provided their nationality is
mentioned under visa exemptions applicable to normal
passport holders.
- Holders of a Laissez-Passer issued by the United Nations.
- Holders of Interpol passport.
- Holders of an Organization of American States Official
Travel Document.
- Holders of a Seaman Book, provided travelling on duty.
- Holders of travel documents issued to stateless persons and
refugees.
Document Validity:
- Passport and/or passport replacing documents must be valid
for the period of intended stay.
- Expired passports (no time limit) issue to nationals of
Brazil are accepted.
- Those residing in Brazil may enter with travel documents
valid on arrival.
- As of 1 January 2010, the government of Montenegro (Rep. of)
only recognizes biometric passports issued to nationals of
Montenegro (Rep. of). All non-biometric passports, even
though they may have an expiry date of after 1 January 2010
have been invalidated are no longer considered a valid
travel document.
Admission and Transit Restrictions:
- The Brazilian Government does not recognise passports issued
by Bhutan or Chinese Taipei. Holders of such passports
should hold a "Laissez-Passer" issued by the Brazilian
authorities. The visa should be stamped in their
Laissez-Passer and not in their national passport.
- The government of Congo (Kinshasa) only recognizes OB, DB
and SB series passports issued to nationals of Congo
(Kinshasa). All non-B series passports, even though they may
have an expiry date of after 1 January 2010 are no longer
considered a valid travel document.
Crew Members:
- General Declaration required, plus one of the following
documents:
- passport (containing specific declaration that holder is a
crew member); or
- valid Crew License; or
- Crew Member Certificate/Identification.
Military:
- Same regulations as for passengers apply.
Minors:
- When departing Brazil, minors of Brazilian nationality (aged
up to incl. 17 years) travelling:
1. unaccompanied or accompanied by a relative other than a
parent, are required to hold notarized authorisation;
2. with one parent (who is a Brazilian national), are
required to hold a notarized authorisation from the other
parent;
3. with one parent (who is a resident of Brazil), are
required to hold a notarized authorisation.
Note: in all cases, two (2) original notarized
authorisations bearing photo of the minor are needed.
