в Центральном парке было 35 ограблений в 2005 году (23 в 2004). В 1990 году было вообще мрак - 152 ограбления. И это только ограбления. А еще и убитых находят и т.д.

Suspects Sought In Central Park Robberies
Police Say Incidents Unrelated
(CBS) NEW YORK There were two armed robberies in Central Park last night at two popular park locations that happened relatively early in the evening. The attacks took place about 30 blocks apart, and happened within 2.5 hours of each other.
Police say the first robbery happened around 6 p.m., on the Park's East Drive near 102nd Street. Two men allegedly confronted a 63-year-old man taking a stroll. One suspect pulled out a handgun, and the other pretended to have one hidden in his shirt. One of the men demanded money, and the thieves got away with $250.
The second attack happened around 8:30 p.m., on Olmstead Drive near the Bethesda Fountain at 72nd Street. As one gunman allegedly approached a 52-year-old man, four teens came up behind him. The teens began kicking the man, police say, ordering him to the ground. The victim suffered a cut eye, and the suspects took his wallet, watch, cell phone, and $300.
Tony Klein, walking through the park to work this morning, as he does every day, said, "When I did hear about it, I was a little apprehensive."
But most park-goers CBS 2 spoke with shrugged it off, with a "what-can-you-do-this-is-New-York" response.
According to the most recent NYPD statistics, robberies were on the rise in Central Park last year. The figures showed there were 35 robberies in the park in 2005, compared with only 23 in 2004 -- a 52 percent increase. Still, those 2005 numbers are down 85 percent compared to 1990, when there were 152 robberies.
The robbers in both incidents last night were described as dark-skinned men in their teens and/or early 20s. Police say they have made no arrests, and at this time, they don't believe the two incidents are related.
